Volunteer as a Coach
All clubs need to have Coaches and Assistant Coaches as a minimum.
Sports volunteers are in all clubs at various levels depending on the sport(s) offered at individual clubs. We take our sports seriously here at Special Olympics so anyone wishing to volunteer in a coaching role, needs to at least have the minimum qualifications required for that sport in alignment with the relevant National Governing Body. We have a great Coaching Pathway and can support you to reach the qualifications you need.
Coaches plan and run the training programmes and prepare athletes for competition and to be the best they can be in their chosen sport.
Assistant Coaches supports the Coach on the field of play in the delivery of training sessions, this includes the warm up and cool down and assisting Athletes during their training sessions.
If you have an interest in a particular sport and would like to be an Assistant Coach, we can help get you started with an Introduction to Coaching Practices Course.
