Special Olympics Ireland to select team to attend 2025 Special Olympics World Winter Games on Tuesday 30th April



On Tuesday April 30th at 7pm the selections for the team to represent Special Olympics Ireland at the 2025 Special Olympics World Winter Games, Torino will take place. There is limited space available for those who would like to attend in person in the Special Olympics Ireland office. A pre-registration will be necessary and offered on a first come basis. The selections will be offered via a zoom link also.

It is envisaged that this process will take approximately 30 minutes as the selections are in two sports only.
 

Team Ireland quota

Special Olympics Ireland received their quota for Team Ireland from Special Olympics International. Special Olympics Ireland always strives to get the largest quota possible and the allocated quota for these Games is as follows:

Floorball: 

  • 1 male team comprising of 8 athletes (2 goalkeepers and 6 outfield players)

Alpine Skiing: 

  • 2 female athletes / intermediate level
  • 2 male athletes / intermediate level
  • 1 female athlete / novice level
  • 1 male athlete / novice level

It is strongly advised to read and become familiar with the process for selections to a World Games. The Regulations Governing Special Olympics Sport page 22, 14.4 – 14.8. (Excerpt attached). An overview will be presented at the start of the process.
