The All-Ireland Athlete Leadership Forum brings Special Olympics athletes together to learn about leadership, improve skills, make new friends and reconnect with old ones!
It's all happening on Saturday 21st September from 10:30 am to 5pm.
We are delighted to have 120 athletes registered to attend the Forum. We have capacity for some additional athlete places: if you wish to register for the forum, please email athlete.leadership@specialolympics.ie

Fitness Captain Training
Fitness Captains are athletes who will take on a leadership role within their club, assisting with the warm ups/cool downs, and encouraging their fellow athletes to improve health and lifestyle habits. 47 athletes are currently registered to complete their Fitness Captain training at the All-Ireland Athlete Leadership Forum.
First Aid Workshop
Learn basic first aid skills and how to help in a first aid situation. Learn more about injuries that happen in sports and what you can do to help. 48 athletes are currently registered to receive basic first aid in sport training at the All-Ireland Athlete Leadership Forum.
Leadership in Sport Workshop
Leadership in Sport is a training workshop that focuses on highlighting:
- What makes a good leader in Sport
- Identifying what type of leader you are
- Identifying what type of leader you want to be
- Self-care as a leader
- Creating your personal leader action plan
Better Lifestyle and Health Habits
Learn about making healthy choices for activity, eating and lifestyle, to help you feel better and improve your energy. Learn useful health tips to share with teammates to inspire them to better their health and sporting lifestyle.
Preparing To Be A Volunteer Workshop
Athletes will leave this workshop with an understanding as to why people volunteer. You will get the opportunity to reflect on why you want to become a volunteer. Explore the feelings associated with volunteering and what skills may be needed to help manage those feelings. You will gain skills and get advice that will assist you when looking for volunteering opportunities.
Athlete Discussion Workshop
This workshop will be a facilitated Athlete Discussion. Engagement and feedback from you, the athlete, is key to the programme outcomes in Special Olympics Ireland. We will be using the time during the athlete discussions to gather feedback on the new Athlete Leadership pathway plans and other important current topics in Special Olympics Ireland.
