Athlete Ashwin completes Basketball Referee course
At the end of August 2025, Eastern Region Basketball Athlete, Ashwin Maliyakal, from Killester Basketball Club completed an Introductory Basketball referee course. This two-day course was run by Dublin Officials Association in ALSAA.
Ashwin has learned a lot from the course under the highly experienced tutors, Ken Prendergast and Joe Robinson. Ashin will now be able to register as an Intro referee with Basketball Ireland.
It is great to see new referees coming up through our clubs and we wish Ashwin the very best in starting his refereeing journey during the coming season. Ashwin is setting a great example for his teammates and fellow athletes, which will hopefully encourage more to follow.
