Regional Kayaking Event - A Win at Lough Rinn

Incredible energy and excitement at our Inter-Regional Kayaking Qualifiers at Lough Rynn over the weekend.  It was the first ever Doubles Event and Unified Doubles Event! Thanks to capital grants funding, we were proud to launch sone of our new doubles kayaks, bringing a fresh wave of inclusion and opportunity to our athletes.

“The support from the capital grants has been transformative,” said Karen Coventry, Director of Sport (and soon to be CEO of Special Olympics Ireland". “It allowed us to invest in equipment that directly supports our mission of inclusion, and we saw that in action today with so many athletes participating – some receiving their first-ever medal at the Unified Doubles Event!”

The atmosphere was electric as athletes from across the regions showcased remarkable skill and talent on the water. Their focus, technique, and teamwork made it clear that the level of competition is stronger than ever.  A special thank to Moira Aston, CEO of Canoe Ireland, for joining us on this inspiring day.
