New Young Athletes Club Opens in Ulster!
Congratulations Special Olympics Ulster! A new Young Athletes Club has been launched!
There were great celebrations had at the launch of the new Young Athletes section of Ripples SOC in Craigavon on the 3rd of September at South Lakes Leisure Centre!
In attendance was Lady Mary Peters, Sarah Duffy (Lord Mayor of Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council), as well as representatives of Armagh GAA team and our LETR crew. The new athletes were presented with their club kitbags by Lady Mary Peters and the Young Athletes coaches received a First Aid kit from LETR to support the athletes in their new adventures! A huge turnout of club volunteers, parents/guardians and the wider community were there to welcome the new recruits to the Special Olympics family!
Young Athletes is currently offered in 10 community clubs and special schools across Ulster and is a play and sports activity programme catering for children aged 4-12 with an intellectual disability.
