Strong Minds, Happier Lives presented at Universal Design for Learning Symposium
An informative poster on the Strong Minds, Happier Lives Programme was presented at the UDL Symposium 2025. “Changing mindsets, changing practice” was the theme of this year’s symposium, and the poster (titled “Stronger Minds, Happier Lives – Innovation in Education: A collaboration between Mental Health Ireland and Special Olympics Ireland”) reflected this by illustrating how the Stronger Minds initiative fosters inclusive access, participation and meaningful outcomes for a diverse participant group. This fits in well with the framework of the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) focus, emphasising how mental health initiatives can be aligned with UDL’s three key principles: Engagement, Representation and Action & Expression.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a framework for addressing the educational needs of diverse and variable learners in many settings across many stages of life. The UDL Guidelines can be used by educators, curriculum developers, researchers, parents, and anyone else who wants to implement the UDL framework in a learning environment.
