We want individuals, corporates, and social groups to support Special Olympics by taking part in our in-person ‘Polar Plunge’ on December 4th or our virtual campaign running from the 10th-12th. It encourages people to get out during Christmas time, the season of giving, and support a national charity. This is a great way for an organisation to involve staff in a team bonding activity. If you would like to organise a plunge, our dates are flexible!
When does The “Polar Plunge” challenge take place?
This year we have two ways you can get involved! Take part in our event on December 4th down at Sandycove Pier in Dublin, or take on a Plunge of your own at your own local swimming spot, bath or shower any time from December 10th-12th!
❄ At Sandycove Pier 11am 4th December
❄ All participants must donate or fundraise €25/£25 to Special Olympics Ireland to take part in our physical event.
❄ You will receive your own Polar Plunge t-shirt upon registration, and any other incentive thereafter.
❄ At your nearest beach, lake, bath or shower, anywhere with cold water from the 10th -12th of December!
❄ Register in advance so we can wish you luck!
❄ Grab your festive jumper or hat and warm up your vocals! Film your plunge signing a verse or two of Jingle Bells if you can.
❄ We ask that you let us know about your plunge via Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, we’d love to hear from you!
❄ We will send you the information on how to set up a fundraising page, and whichever incentives you achieve thereafter.
How do I sign up?
