2017 Annual General Meeting
The Special Olympics Ireland 2017 AGM took place on Saturday 20th May 2017 in the Crowne Plaza, Blanchardstown and was well attended.
Claire Adams, Athlete representative on the Board welcomed everyone on the day. Terry Buckley chaired the AGM and addressed the Delegates. Matt English CEO presented the Annual Report. Proinsias Kitt, Treasurer gave an overview of the 2016 Financial Statements.

Lorcan Byrne, Athlete, who played Floorball at the 2017 World Winter Games, was interviewed by Frances Kavanagh. We were delighted to have Swim Ireland CEO and President of the Olympic Council of Ireland Sarah Keane as guest speaker who addressed the Delegates and was then presented with a bouquet of flowers by Chairperson, Terry Buckley.

Distinguished Service Awards were presented during the AGM to Ken Kavanagh, Dick & Collette Sweetman and Pam Beacom. All three made heartfelt and inspiring acceptance speeches. The awards were presented by Chairperson, Terry Buckley.

Two Board members retired from the Board and were acknowledged by Terry and presented with framed photos in recognition of their dedication and commitment to Special Olympics Ireland; John McKernan and Laura Murphy

There was also one new Board member announced at the AGM. Jim Pow was elected as Chairperson for the Ulster Region
