2. Find a Special Olympics Club training in that sport



3. Contact the club contact for training details


4. Complete the 'Athlete Participation Form' issued by the Club


5. Go train and compete  







Special Olympics Munster Clubs
There are 60 Clubs in Munster comprising of 42 community based clubs & 18 service and school based clubs.

Community Based Special Olympics Clubs
These are sports clubs specifically set up by Special Olympics with most clubs based in local communities. Capacity permitting, clubs are open to anyone with an intellectual disability within the immediate locality. Athletes can start training at the age of 4 but may not compete until the age of 8.   

Service and School Based Special Olympics Clubs
These include residential centres, special schools, workshops & day activation units etc. Services usually only provide Special Olympics Programme to people within the service.  


Personal Accident insurance
Special Olympics Ireland has Personal Accident Insurance cover in place since 1st January 2018. Any individual making a claim on the policy must ensure appropriate notification as per the process here.
