Tax Relief on Donations
Depending on the amount of your donation, you/your company and/or Special Olympics Ireland may be eligible for tax relief.
Special Olympics Ireland can claim back the tax paid on donations of €250 or more in any one year by individuals on PAYE. Tax refunds will be calculated at 42 per cent, 20 per cent or a combination of both, depending on which rate is applicable. This means if you pay tax at the higher rate of 42 per cent, a donation of €250 could be worth €431 to Special Olympics Ireland.
Donations are cumulative, so a standing order of just €21 a month will bring you over the threshold. At the end of the year, we will send you the appropriate form that we need to claim back the tax.
Those who are self-assessed may claim back the tax they have paid on donations, so to provide Special Olympics Ireland with the benefit, don't forget to take this into account when deciding what donation to make.
