Announcement of 2016 Extraordinary General Meeting

Special Olympics Ireland on Saturday 26th November 2016

Special Olympics Ireland is calling an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) to be held on Saturday 26th November 2016 at 1 p.m.,this date is subject to final confirmation by means of the EGM Notice. The purpose of the EGM is to consider and, if agreed, approve a revised Memorandum & Articles of Association (Constitution) for Special Olympics Ireland.  A revised Constitution has been submitted to Revenue in the Republic of Ireland and HM Revenue and Customs in Northern Ireland for their approval prior to putting before the Members. This version may be subject to some minor amendments. The final version will be circulated to all clubs and delegates within the required 21 day notice period of the EGM.

The EGM will take place in our new offices at the National Sports Campus, Snugborough Road, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15 and further details will be notified to all clubs and delegates. Should a need arise to change the proposed date of Saturday 26th November 2016, due to a delay or otherwise in our proceedings with the relevant revenue authorities, we will notify everyone at the earliest opportunity.

All Regional Councils and Clubs are entitled to send Delegates to the EGM, twenty from each Regional Council and two from each Club.

Each Delegate must be a registered member of Special Olympics Ireland and be at least 18 years of age or older. Each Delegate has one vote. Only duly appointed Delegates or existing members of the Board shall be entitled to attend and vote at general meetings of Special Olympics Ireland but any member of Special Olympics Ireland may attend the EGM (but only Delegates can vote).
