Paula Rowan, unique in being Ireland’s only glove designer, has introduced a limited edition range of gloves for Special Olympics Ireland. Launched by Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood in an exclusive appearance on The Late Late Show to showcase his new solo album, all proceeds will go Special Olympics Athletes to help them in achieving their goal of competing in Athens in 2011.

Ideal for Christmas presents, the limited edition range of gloves (€50) designed by Paula come in black, red and tan for women and black for men, & feature an embossed Special Olympics logo on the inner cuff.  Paula's brother Derek, now fifty, has Down’s Syndrome and has been involved in Special Olympics for many years.

“I remember going to Special Olympics events with Derek when I was a child and how much it meant to him. I wanted to do something to help other families with special needs kids get as much joy and motivation out of it as he did” says Paula.

As well as her own range of gloves, Paula Rowan now offers a range of fine leather accessories -beautiful bags, purses, wallets and unusual belts and umbrellas- and has recently introduced a range of high fashion shoes and boots at surprisingly affordable prices. Adept at reading consumer trends, Paula’s designs were a big hit with Ronnie Wood and his new Brazilian girlfriend Ana who chose several pairs of gloves from Paula’s flagship store in the Westbury Mall. Paula’s designs, including the limited edition Special Olympics glove, are available on www.glovesbypaularowan.ie or in her shop in the Westbury Mall, Dublin.
