Special Olympics Connaught Chair Becomes Hall Of Famer

The Special Olympics Connaught Chairperson is to receive an award for her dedication to Special Olympics at an event in Roscommon Town next month. 

Maire Allen, who serves on the Special Olympics Ireland Board of Directors is to be inducted into the Hall of Fame at the Roscommon Herald/SuperValu Sportstar of the Year Awards in the Abbey Hotel Roscommon on February 3rd. 

This week's edition of the Roscommon Herald writes:

"Maire Allen has dedicated her life to different sports... Her involvement with Special Olympics was catapulted into the limelight when she was the Host Town Committee Chairperson for Roscommon in 2003 when the town hosted Uganda for the World Summer Games in Ireland."
