Between 18 and 24 September 2010, the Special Olympics European Summer Games 2010 were held in Warsaw, Poland.
1600 athletes from 58 National Programmes from all over Europe, competed in 9 sport disciplines, supported by 2000 volunteers, 600 coaches, 200 judges and 250 medics.
Team Ireland returned home with 10 Gold, 8 Silver and 11 Bronze medals. Several other athletes finished just outside the medal placings and the football team put up a fantastic performance in a very tough group.

Team Ireland were welcomed home to Dublin Airport on Friday by Minister for Arts, Sports and Tourism, Mary Hanafin TD, Special Olympics CEO Matt English and a large group of family and friends.
