Volunteer / Mentor with the Athlete Leadership Programme (ALPs)
What is a mentor?
A mentor is a volunteer who provides support for the ALPs athlete and must:
- be a registered volunteer with Special Olympics Ireland
- be over 18
- be willing to give the commitment necessary
- have knowledge of the ALPs programme
- preferably not be a family member of the athlete
What is the role of a mentor?
- to support the athlete in the award scheme
- attend meetings and workshops with athlete
- practise writing and delivering speeches with athlete
