What is Support an Athlete?
Support an Athlete is a fundraising initiative set up by Special Olympics Ireland with the task of raising enough funds to cover the cost of preparing and sending our athletes to Austria to compete on the world stage. In this initiative we are calling on the business community to get behind us and sign up to support an athlete.
Special Olympics World Winter Games - What's it all about?
Over the 18th to 24th March, the world's largest sports and humanitarian event in 2017 will be the Special Olympics World Games in Graz and Schladming, Austria. 3,000 Special Olympics athletes from 110 nations will compete in nine Olympic-type winter sport. The Special Olympics movement is committed to creating a world where every person, regardless of their ability or disability, is accepted, welcomed and valued.
will consist of 26 Special Olympics Ireland athletes who will compete in two sports, Alpine Skiing and Floorball, and will demonstrate their incredible courage, unwavering determination and sheer joy by representing their country on the world stage.

How much does it cost?
To cover the cost of sending Team Ireland to the World Winter Games, Special Olympics Ireland must raise €3,000 per athlete.
