Joe Jonas visits Blackrock Flyers Special Olympics Club

Special Olympics athletes from Blackrock Flyers Special Olympics Club in Dublin welcomed a surprise guest to their club this evening. Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers took the opportunity, while in Dublin, to visit the club and meet some of the athletes. Joe Jonas is a huge supporter of Special Olympics and held the first Joe Jonas iWin fun run while on tour this summer in San Antonio, Texas. Speaking at the event Joe said, “Each and every time I watch Special Olympic Athletes compete I am inspired. I am grateful to have the opportunity to lend my support to such a wonderful organization as the Special Olympics and invite all of my fans to show their support as well through volunteering”.

Sahra O’Neill, Director of Marketing, Communications and Fundraising with Special Olympics Ireland said: “We were absolutely thrilled when we heard that Joe was planning to visit a Special Olympics club while here in Dublin. Joe is very much involved with Special Olympics in the USA so it is fantastic that he took the time out of his busy schedule to meet some Irish athletes while here in Dublin. I know our athletes were so excited to meet him and really treasured the opportunity to chat and play basketball with him. He also wished all of the Special Olympics athletes, who will participate in the 2010 Special Olympics Ireland Games in Limerick next June, all the best in their preparations”.

The Jonas Brothers are due to play their sell-out concert at the O2, Dublin tomorrow  24th November.
