Families
Over 4000 registered
family members will travel to Limerick and Clare for the Games to cheer on their athletes as they represent their region, club and of course make their families very proud.
For the first time at the Special Olympics Ireland Games,
Special Olympics Town will be open to registered family members. It offers athletes and family members the opportunity to take a break from competition and take part in some activities across a wide variety of areas.
Another first at these Games is the fact that family members will have the opportunity to attend the
Healthy Athlete Programme. Families will be encouraged to accompany their athlete to the marquee as they avail of the free health screening programme. Screening is only available for Athletes.
The support received from local volunteers, business and general public in Limerick has been phenomenal with many local restaurants and shops offering
discounts for the visiting family members.
Limerick truly has opened its doors and hearts to our 4000 travelling family members and we have no doubt that they will be charmed by the cultural heritage and vibrant atmosphere of Limerick.
