Special Olympics Town
Special Olympics Town provides a unique zone where athletes will be able to participate in a host of different activities and relax after competition with old and new friends alike. Activities on offer include: Arts and Crafts, Dance, Drama, Tai Chi, Nail Bar and relaxation area, Games Zone, face painting (after competition!).
With a range of local community groups, artists, dancers and entertainers descending on Special Olympics Town for the weekend it promises fun, variety and a carnival atmosphere. With a theme of mind, body and soul, Special Olympics Town is sure to be a memorable experience for all.
Special Olympics town will be located on the University of Limerick Campus in a large marquee in the car park adjacent to the Stables/Students’ Union complex with additional activities taking place in the Students’ Union courtyard. Also located in this area will be the Healthy Athlete programme.
Special Olympics Town will run on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11am until 5pm and on Sunday from 11am-2pm and during this time athletes, coaches and family members will be welcome to come along and join the fun.
In the evening, Special Olympics Town will run exclusively for coaches and athletes (Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 5.30pm-9-30pm) alongside official evening entertainment. Whether athletes want to dance the night away or to learn a new skill in arts and crafts or simply to relax watching a movie or playing games, there will be something to suit everyone!
