Athletes

1900 athletes will take part in the 2010 Special Olympics Ireland Games.

The athletes will represent the 5 Special Olympics Regions in Ireland.

To reach the 2010 Special Olympics Ireland Games, athletes have come through area and then regional competitions. The next step in the advancement process is the World Games which take place in Athens in 2011.

Athletes will compete in 13 different sports:

• Aquatics,
• Athletics,
• Badminton,
• Basketball,
• Bocce,
• Bowling,
• Equestrian,
• Football
• Golf,
• Gymnastics,
• Kayaking,
• Pitch & Putt,
• Table Tennis.

A non-competitive Motor Activities Training Programme (MATP) will also be on offer.
