Special Olympics Ireland European Summer Games, Antwerp 2014
The Special Olympics European Summer Games will take place from 9th to 20th September in Antwerp.
46 athletes from Special Olympics Ireland will be competing in the European Summer Games across 7 sports and they will be representing all 5 of our regions. Our athletes will be competing in the following sports; Aquatics, Athletics, Badminton, Bocce, Football, Gymnastics and Table-Tennis.
2,000 athletes and 1,000 coaches from the Special Olympics Europe-Eurasia Regions will participate in these Games. They are also supported by an amazing 4,000 volunteers, 300 officials, 300 medical coaches, 2,500 family members and up to 40,000 spectators!
The Special Olympics European Summer Games are also called the "Games of the Heart" and will provide 12 days full of joy and friendship to all involved.

World Summer Games, Los Angeles, USA
July 25th – August 2nd 2015
The Special Olympics World Summer Games will return to the United States after 16 years, having last been held in the United States in 1999 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Los Angeles is set to welcome more than 7,000 Special Olympics athletes from 170 programmes to compete in 21 Olympic-type sports.
The selection of athletes for Team Ireland 2015 who will participate in the Games will take place in the Louis Fitzgerald Hotel, Dublin on Saturday August 30th from 11:00am – 3:00pm approximately.
Special Olympics Ireland has received a quota from Special Olympics International for the Games. Details on the quota are available here.
