VOLUNTEERING WITH SPECIAL OLYMPICS ULSTER

Whether you are looking to volunteer on a weekly basis, or occasionally throughout the year, we're sure we will be able to find the right volunteer role for you!

Most of our current vacancies do not require any particular skills. All we ask is that you are enthusiastic, reliable, can work as part of a team and are willing to complete our online Volunteer Registration Process. Volunteers must be at least 15yrs or older in order to register. Volunteers aged 16yrs + must complete an Access NI enhanced disclosure check / Garda vetting application.

In return, you can expect to find a warm and welcoming atmosphere within Special Olympics where you will have the opportunity to build new friendships with other volunteers through various events and social outings. There will also be opportunities for personal development through training courses such as first aid, safeguarding training and sports coaching qualifications. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to attend national and international events as a Special Olympics volunteer.

Young people volunteering with Special Olympics Ulster can also achieve the Millennium Volunteers Award, which is a volunteer recognition programme aimed at 14 to 25yr olds. The programme enables young people to receive a certificate recognising their sustained contribution to volunteering after their first 50, 100 and 200 hours of volunteering.

Below you will find a list of all the volunteer vacancies we currently have across our community sports clubs and for our upcoming events. If a volunteer role appeals to you, we will be happy to provide you with more details over the phone or via email. Alternatively, feel free to drop into our Regional Office in Belfast at any time, or we can arrange to meet you at a time and location convenient to you to discuss further.

Events

From September 2018 to June 2019, Special Olympics Ulster will host a series of development days, non-advancement events and leagues across the region. We require volunteers to assist in a range of roles including event management teams, sports roles, volunteer services and media.

Clubs

In the Ulster Region, we have 64 community sports clubs, special schools, adult centres and services providing weekly training sessions to over 2000 athletes. All of our clubs are managed by teams of volunteers who give their valuable time to ensure our athletes can develop and perform at regional, national and international events. Special Olympics Ulster is offering you the chance to make a real difference to the lives of our athletes by becoming one of the team.
