Background Checks on Volunteers
To help ensure the safety of everyone involved in Special Olympics Ireland, all volunteers must undergo a background security check and reference check. Special Olympics Ireland also provides relevant training on an ongoing basis to all volunteers to ensure that they have the necessary skills and information to work effectively and with confidence within their assigned role.
Volunteers have always been the backbone of Special Olympics and are needed in all areas of the organisation. Special Olympics Ireland would not exist today without the time, energy, dedication and commitment of thousands of volunteers. Students, senior citizens, business people, family members of athletes, amateur and professional athletes, coaches and many others come together to fill a wide variety of roles in Special Olympics Ireland.
