  Omagh Spires Special Olympics Club was officially renamed at a recent re-launching ceremony by chairperson of Omagh District Council Errol Thompson on the 11th April in South West College.

Neptune’s Special Olympics Swimming Club, Belfast’s newest Special Olympics Club, is nearing the end of their very successful first year. The club is based at Whiterock Leisure Centre where it held the official club launch in March.

Special Olympics Connaught wishes to invite applications from its volunteers for Team Connaught Management Team.

Annual Regional Meeting

 

Special Olympics Connaught Annual Regional Meeting (ARM) will take place on:

 Thursday 27th April 2017 at 7pm

 Athlone Springs Hotel, Monksland, Athlone

All registered athletes, volunteers and family members are invited to attend. We encourage clubs to send representation to the ARM as it is an ideal opportunity to see the growth & development that took place in 2016 and the plan for the year ahead.

 Connaught

Special Olympics Connaught provides year round sports training and competition for over 1,300 adults and children with intellectual disabilities in Galway, Leitrim, Longford, Mayo, Roscommon, Sligo and Westmeath.

Over 30 sports competitions and development days are held annually in 13 Olympic type sports.

There are 73 Special Olympics clubs in the Connaught region.

 The mission of Special Olympics is “to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with an intellectual disability, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendships with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community”.
