Importance of legacies to Special Olympics Ireland
Leaving a gift to Special Olympics Ireland in your will is an inspiring way of ensuring sport continues to transform the lives of all children and adults in Ireland with an intellectual disability for years to come.
We rely on generous supporters to deliver our sport and health programme, leaving a legacy gift in your will is a wonderful way to ensure your generosity lives on.
Once you have looked after your loved ones, you can ensure that you are leaving a lasting legacy to the thousands of athletes, current and future who train week in week out to achieve their best in the sports they love.
Your legacy, no matter how small or large, will help support the work of Special Olympics Ireland long in to the future.
Types of Legacies:
1. Make a gift of a specific sum (Pecuniary legacy)
Any amount no matter how small or how large will go towards ensuring that Special Olympics programmes continue long in to the future.
2. Leave part of your estate (Residuary legacy)
By leaving a share or % of your estate after all other payments and gifts have been made, you can invest in the future of Special Olympics Athletes.
3. Donate a particular gift or item
Leaving a specific item of value like stocks, shares, jewellery, property, the proceeds of a life assurance policy or other valuable items to Special Olympics Ireland is another way that you can support your chosen cause for years to come.
4. In Memory Gifts
This can be a donation, a collection at a funeral, a donation in lieu of flowers these are all ways you can leave a gift in memory of a loved one.
We have teamed up with MyLegacy, an umbrella group of over 50 charities.
