Siobhan’s main sport is football but she has also participated in kayaking and basketball. She has been involved with Special Olympics Ireland for the past 4 years and is a member of Strabane Special Olympics Club where she and her club mates train weekly. Siobhan has enjoyed much success through Special Olympics competing and winning medals at regional, Ireland and European level.
Before joining Special Olympics Siobhan felt that she didn’t have the opportunity to show or develop her talents. She also wanted to be fitter and more active. Through Special Olympics she has achieved this and more. Today Siobhan is fitter than she ever has been and is very confident in herself.
Siobhan is the secretary for the Athlete Leadership Progarmme (ALPs) in Ulster West. This is a role that Siobhan enjoys as it provides her with an additional challenge alongside her sport. Siobhan also feels that through ALPs she can inspire other athletes to be the best they can be.
Siobhan says that representing Ireland at the European Games is a real honour for her and she is looking forward to meeting athletes from other countries.
Siobhan volunteers four days a week as a classroom assistant and in her free time she enjoys watching sport on television, going for walks with her dog and making jigsaws.
